We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Gateshead. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that the voices of children and young people are heard and their rights are upheld within the social care system. As an IRO, you will facilitate and lead statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that their needs are met and that their welfare is prioritized.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care. Engaging with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback. Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Advocating for the best interests of children and young people in meetings and discussions. Preparing reports and documentation to support the review process and decision-making.To be considered for this position, you must possess a recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW) and be registered with Social Work England. Essential skills include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, a sound understanding of child protection legislation, and experience in working with children and families in a social work context. A commitment to promoting the welfare and rights of children is crucial.
